Synopsis
Tony Wendice has married his wife Margot for her money and now plans to murder her for the same reason. He blackmails someone into murdering his wife and arranges a perfect alibi for himself. Unfortunately, the murderer gets murdered and the victim survives. Tony goes to great lengths to correct the problem and get rid of his wife at the same time, but things never work out as planned, as Tony learns while this chilling plot unfolds.
Cast Descriptions
Margot Wendice - early 40s, is good looking, but not what you would call “beautiful.” Her family had money, but not all that much.
Tony Wendice - mid 40s, used to be a professional tennis player. On the outside, he’s smooth and charming; on the inside, he’s evil.
Max Halliday - early 40s, is a successful crime writer. American accent.
Lesgate - mid 40s, is an old college buddy of Tony’s. He’s always been a bit dishonest.
Inspector Hubbard - age TBD, is an experienced Scotland Yard investigator.
Thompson - a young policeman, is a very small role and will probably be doubled with stage crew member.
NOTES:
All characters, except for Max, should have a slight British accent, but the primary goal is being sure that the audience can understand what you say. You do not need to know how to do a British accent to audition.
